IRONMAN PART 2; THE RACE

TRAVEL AND PHOTOGRAPY – BILL FERRY

The professional racers go off first. A number of pros pass up the Coeur d’Alene Ironman because the water segment can be cold and extra challenging. Top prize for this race was $15,000 each for the first male and female finisher

Next up: everyone else. It isn’t enough that the race is long. Entering the water and all during your swim you have to endure the likely possibility of being kicked or clobbered by your fellow racer. Men are in green caps, women in red

After 8 or 9 (or more!) hours and approximately 130 miles of swimming, biking and now running you have the real risk of “hitting the wall.”
Our friend’s son, Chris, was fortunate.
