SENIOR LIVING – CHERIE HENRY- I know you’ve all heard stories of late romance, but it is such a beacon of hope, I had to share this story. It is so encouraging to know that love never dies and we can all have another chance at it late in life.
I called a 90 year old friend of mine a few days ago, just to say Hi and check in. She announced, with a giggle, I’m a married woman again! This woman is such a vital, full of life individual. She just gave up her big red Cadillac for a smaller more efficient car. She walks every day, rain or shine. For her 90th birthday, she drove herself downtown to meet me at The Heathman so that I could help her celebrate! She is involved, social and truly, The Life of the Party – of Life!!!!
My friend met her new husband at the retirement community she lives in. I had the great privilege of helping her find her new home at this retirement center about 3 years ago. The couple have been seeing each other, first as friends and then more romantically for about a year. They had a ceremony in a church, but have kept their legal status the same to keep issues about income and inheritance etc. out of their lives. They can live together, with the love and support of all of the friends they’ve both made at the community – I can’t think of a better way to live out life in your 90’s!
Come to find out, there is another couple who met at the same community getting married within the next week as well!
So, Just sayin’……you never know!!!!!!
