SALLY MELTON – VOLUNTEERING – Sally is no stranger to volunteering, or to organizing other volunteers. Early in her life, she spent several summers volunteering to teach Red Cross swimming lessons. This set the foundation for the rest of her career which combined teaching, volunteering and advocacy. For nearly a decade she taught junior and senior high school English, and regularly utilized volunteers in her classroom. Soon after moving to Southern Oregon in 1989, she led the formation of a local nonprofit volunteer group dedicated to serving the Jackson County Animal Shelter. For the past twenty years she has worked for Asante Health System, coordinating their Senior Services program, the volunteer program for their community health library, their domestic and sexual violence advocacy program. She currently manages the volunteer program for Asante Hospice.
